After extensive research and years of coaching hockey skills development
at the Mite-Peewee age, we found there was a wide range of quality in
the various published training programs. We have developed a program
based on three areas of focus.
There is
little doubt that kids have a lot of fun playing in games just for the
sake of competition. Iceman Hockey has been successful at helping kids
develop because we integrate competition into as many drills as possible.
The practice plans often include small area games and the there are
full sessions devoted to scrimmages. For every three hours of practice,
we have one inter-squad scrimmage/games day.
During
the fall session players at both levels will participate in 15 hours
of practice/instruction, 5 hours of games (both at Ames arena) and 5
hours of Skating Treadmill (at Acceleration South in Apple Valley).
